As ceramic traditions have always been concerned with the tactile, visual, and functional surface qualities of any vessel or object, now emerging technologies offer new possibilities to control the production of texture, color, luster, pattern, and perforation. Some of these techniques are integral (or necessary) to the process of fabrication while others require additional phases of production.
